Hambletonian winner Donato Hanover, fresh off a 1:51.3 qualifying tightener at The Red Mile, has drawn post four for Saturday’s $600,000 World Trotting Derby at Du Quoin, Ill. With two $30,000 supplemental entries—Anderberg and Prayer I Am—Donato Hanover will have eight challengers for the trophy.

Donato Hanover comes into the World Trotting Derby riding a 13-race win streak. Following the qualifier at The Red Mile Thursday, Aug. 23, co-owner David Scharf remarked that the 3-year-old colt trotter could be headed for a bid at breaking Tom Ridge’s 1:50.2 world record at Du Quoin. Ron Pierce once again gets the drive from trainer Steve Elliott.

Hambletonian runner-up and Yonkers Trot third-place finisher Adrian Chip continues to remain in the U.S. and he has also been entered in the World Trotting Derby by trainer-driver Robert Bergh. Despite being in this country since late July, Adrian Chip remains under quarantine and will travel to Du Quoin via sealed truck.
