Windsong Soprano won the fastest of two $53,750 divisions of The Buckette for 3-year-old filly trotters Wednesday afternoon at the Delaware, Ohio, fairgrounds, scoring a 1:58 victory over a "good" racetrack after heavy overnight rains. Caviar Forthe Lady won the first division in 1:58.4
David Miller was in the sulky behind Windsong Soprano, who battled through a final quarter of :28.4 in a head-to-head duel with Raising Rachel and driver Jack Moiseyev, putting her nose in front in the final stride. All Star Hanover was third for George Brennan.
Trained by Bob McIntosh, the winning daughter of Windsong's Legacy is owned by Susan Grange's Lothlorien. The win was her eighth of the year in 10 starts, increasing her seasonal earnings to more than $460,000. She has now won three straight, including the $327,985 Hudson Filly final at Yonkers.
Caviar Forthelady was a 2 1/4-length winner for driver Charlie Norris, trainer Marty Wollam and owner Acadia Farms. Finishing second was Spiceberry Hanover, with Musical Dream third.
Coming off a win in the $200,000 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes championship at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Caviar Forthelady scored for the third time in 13 starts this year. The daughter of SJ's Caviar now sports seasonal earnings of more than $210,000.
