In Bluegrass Stakes action at The Red Mile Tuesday, the 2-year-old trotting filly Windsong Soprano, who won the $466,488 Peaceful Way Trot at Mohawk in her previous start, turned in a huge 1:53.4 victory on a sunny, warm afternoon.

The time set a national season's mark, erasing the 1:55.1 standard Starcelona turned in at Du Quoin on Aug. 29. Snow White holds the world record by virtue of her 1:52.4 victory at The Red Mile last fall.

Windsong Soprano, a daughter of Windsong’s Legacy out of the Muscles Yankee mare Muscling In, won easily over Missy’s Doubt Fire and Scrumptious Lady. The 1-9 betting favorite, Windsong Soprano picked up her third victory of the year in six starts for owner Lothlorien Group and trainer Bob McIntosh.

Windsong Soprano set a national season’s mark with the mile, but Condren said he wasn’t driving for any record, just a win. “I kind of quit driving her the last sixteenth or so,” he said.

There were a total of six Bluegrass splits for 2-year-old filly trotters.

Give N Take, a filly by Cantab Hall, was tipped past her cover in the homestretch and she trotted past New York Sire Stakes champion She’s So Savvy and then held off Possess Me to win in 1:55.2. Mike Lachance drove the winner for trainer Ron Gurfein.

Seaside won the first split of the day, opening up to a five-length score in 1:54.4. Jonas Czernyson trains the Yankee Glide filly, who picked up her sixth win in 11 starts this year. David Miller drove the filly.

Gift Card, a daughter of Credit Winner, edged Up Front Annika by a head in a split, hitting the wire first in 1:55.2. The win was the third in five starts for Gift Card, who is trained by Frank Antonacci and was bred by Tom Hicks, who also bred Antonacci’s top colt Crazed.

Margarita Momma earned her fourth win in eight starts when she took her Bluegrass division by 3 ¾ lengths in 1:54.1. Ron Pierce handled the driving for trainer Jan Johnson, who shares ownership in the Yankee Glide filly with Jorgen Jahre Jr.

The slowest time for a Bluegrass split was turned in by Wedding Dress, a Muscles Yankee filly who scored her first victory of the season. She won in 1:56.4 with John Campbell aboard.
