Windsor Raceway paddock judge Lew Clark, who also had a successful career training horses and served as an Ontario Harness Horse Association director, died Tuesday, March 16. He was 66.
Mr. Clark was a leading trainer at Windsor Raceway and Hazel Park in the 1970s and ‘80s, winning dash titles at both racetracks. He retired from training in 1998. According to Standardbred Canada records, Mr. Clark trained the winners of 489 races with total earnings of more than $2.3 million.
Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Colleen; a son, Patrick; sisters, Jean Knapp, Grace Gilbert, Iva Hancock, Margaret Haskins and Blanche Little; and a brother, Hugh Clark.
