Windsun Lane trounced his nine rivals in winning Thursday night's $49,600 General Brock Trotting Series Final for 4-year-olds at Woodbine Racetrack, scoring in 1:55.2 for trainer-driver and co-owner Rick Zeron in the sulky. Windsun Lane, a gelded son of Lindy Lane, sat off the early speed and watched as second-choice Enny Youngman seated all early challengers through a brisk opener of :26.3. Enny Youngman was then able to steal a breather in the second quarter and took the field past the half in :56.3. At that point, Windsun Lane had started his rally out from sixth position and he had worked his way up to second on the outside as they reached the third station in just 1:27. Despite the slow middle half, Enny Youngman was no match for Windsun Lane as the field straightened up for home, with the eventual winner kicking away to a dominant tally. Enny Youngman held on for the place spot with Sauce Two K finishing third. The winner returned $3.20. The victory was the sixth in just seven starts this season for Windsun Lane and increased his seasonal bankroll to more than $80,000 for Zeron along with Springhill Trading Inc. of Ontario. (WEG)
