Five early-closer fields matched up for the second time at The Red Mile Thursday night. Windsun Lane and driver Kyle Bolon battled seven other colt trotters as well as high winds and spotty rain to win their $6,000 early-closer leg in 1:57.2.

Bolon, 19, guided Windsun Lane to a well-timed, two-length win for co-owners Mike Fellinger and trainer Rodney Bolon. Malevich Hanover finished second with Exile On Main Street third.

Sign From Nana and driver Marcus Johansson out-necked Keystone Edna and Ricky Macomber Jr. to win their $6,000 early-closer leg for 3- and 4-year-old pacing fillies and mares in 1:54. Eric Reese trains Sign From Nana for Tony Patterson and McCowan Rise Stable.

Anette Lorentzon completed a driving double with a 2:00.3 win in a $6,000 early-closer leg for trotting mares with favorite Fashion As. Lorentzon also trains the 4-year-old Dream Vacation filly for owner Anna Kristina Lorentzon.

Green River Gorge, a 3-year-old gelding by The Panderosa, picked up his first career win with a 1:56.2 score in his early-closer leg. Richard Schaut drove the gelding for owner-trainer Mary Dawson.

Athlete In Action and John "Duke" Sugg scored in 2:02.2. The 4-year-old Yankee Glide gelding won his early-closer leg for trotting colts for owner Wayne Mast and trainer Wes Hershberger.

The Red Mile will continue live racing Sunday night, Aug. 19, with first post at 6:30 p.m. Among the 14-race card will be five $6,000 heats of the early-closer series for 2 year olds. This is leg two of five in the series. Kentucky Sire Stakes action returns Monday night, Aug. 20, as the 2 year olds meet for leg two. (Red Mile)
