Wind Surfer made a decisive quarter-pole move to the lead and went on to a comfortable victory in the $25,000 Preferred Handicap Trot Wednesday at The Meadows. Wind Surfer, who shipped to The Meadows after performing creditably in the Horse & Groom, Su Mac Lad and Father Foley Series at the Meadowlands, got away second behind the speedy Prism K. Eric Ledford sent the 4-year-old gelded son of Muscles Yankee-Windsurfing VC to the front, where he easily thwarted the uncovered bid of Classical Man. Wind Surfer scored in 1:54.4, equaling his career best, with Prism K 2 1/2 lengths back in second. Classical Man finished third. Kent Sherman trains Wind Surfer for James Koran and Betty Sherman. Ledford and Dick Stillings each drove three winners on the 16-race card. Tony Hall, who suffered leg injuries in a violent-looking race accident Tuesday, maintained his usual heavy workload, handling 14 drives with one win. Hall was treated and released at a local hospital following the mishap. (The Meadows)
