Bono Bests narrowly eclipsed the competition to win the $42,000 conditioned pace on Saturday night at the Meadowlands. Driven by David Miller and trained by Ross Croghan, Bono Bests rallied in the stretch and edged out Manhardt at the wire to win by a head in 1:50.2. It was 2 3/4 lengths back to South Park Hanover in third. Bono Best paid $25.20 to win. The 5-year-old gelded son of Pro Bono Best posted his fourth victory of the year in his eighth start and increased his lifetime earnings to $353,645 for Herbert Burns III of Wallkill, N.Y., and Stephen Demeter of Tarrytown, N.Y.
