Donato Hanover has proved time and again the champion he is and further proved that winning the C$1-million Canadian Trotting Classic in 1:54 at Mohawk Saturday.  Now a perfect eight for eight this year, Donato Hanover is closing in on $2-million in seasonal earnings.

Pampered Princess took the lead at a :27.1 first quarter with Arch Madness sitting in the two hole and Donato just behind in third.  At the quarter pole, Ron Pierce pulled the Andover Hall colt, shooting past the lone filly in the race and settled in for a :56.2 half.  Upfront Larry lead the movers going two-wide around the last turn to a 1:25.2 third quarter, but Donato kicked away off the last turn and won by three and a quarter lengths.

Pampered Princess and John Campbell finished second with Laddie and Paul MacDonell closing the fastest in the race to get up for third.  Steve Elliott trains the colt for lessees David Scharf, Golden Touch Stable and Steven Arnold.  Before heading to Mohawk for the Canadian Trotting Classic eliminations, Donato Hanover was in Du Quoin, Ill. where he lead gate to wire in the World Trotting Derby.

In the C$100,000 Canadian Trotting Classic consolation, Flirtin Man returned to racing form and took the short four horse field to the wire in 1:55.1.  John Campbell took the favorite to the front before the half and held off a late drive by Year in Review and Jack Moiseyev to win by three-quarters of a length.

Owned by Juniper II LLC, Brittany Farms and Let it Ride Stables Inc., the three-year-old by Angus Hall now has eight wins in 13 starts and just under $300,000 in lifetime earnings.
