Harrington Raceway's 68th year of live harness racing resumed Monday night with four-time defending driving champion Ross Wolfenden winning four races on the 12-race program.
Live racing had been on a brief hiatus in central Delaware since the July 24 Governor's Day program during the Delaware State Fair.
Wolfenden, who finished in a deadlock atop the driver standings with George Dennis in 2013, teamed up with 2013 leading trainer Joe Hundertpfund Jr. to win three of his races. The 51-year-old Wolfenden's first win came in the second race aboard Polaris N ($11.40) before capturing consecutive races aboard Hundertpfund-trained horses in the seventh with Ivan Blue Chip ($4) and eighth Ziggy Sky ($4.80). Wolfenden then triumphed in the 11th with Danish Diligence ($3.20) to cap the grand slam.
There was approximately a half-hour delay shortly before the 11th race due to an electrical outage.
Jon Roberts and George Dennis each recorded a driving double. (Harrington)
