Won The West, second in last year's Winbak Pace at the Delaware, Ohio, fairgrounds, turned the tables on his divisional rival in this year's $50,300 renewal, scoring a 1:50.4 victory for driver David Miller. Just four horses lined up behind the gate as a light rain began to fall: Booze Cruzin, Atochia, Mister Big and Won The West.
Miller got away third in the field as Brian Sears sent Mister Big to the front. Mister Big set fractions of :27.2 and :55.4 before Miller tipped his charge to the outside. After the three quarters was reached in 1:24.1, the battle was on as the first-over Won The West ranged up on the outside. Won The West won the head-to-head-duel over Mister Big with a final quarter of :26.3. Atochia finished third.
Won The West finished fourth in the decisive final heat of the 2007 Little Brown Jug. This year, his wins include the Breeders Crown final at the Meadowlands in August. Overall, the 5-year-old son of Western Hanover has seasonal earnings of more than $505,000 and a career bankroll topping $1.8 million.
