Won The West, fresh off a 1:53.1 qualifier at Northfield Park the previous week, paced past Kinetic Yankee late in the homestretch to win the $165,000 Jug Preview Saturday night at Scioto Downs. With Greg Grismore driving, Won The West hit the wire in 1:51.
Kinetic Yankee, with Dave Palone driving, left quickly from post seven and controlled the race through fractions of :26.1, :55 and 1:22.4, depite the sloppy condition of the track due to heavy rain earlier in the evening.
Trained by Mickey Burke, Won The West has now won 13 of 20 starts this season. He won a heat of the Adios and then was the runner-up in the final. The Strollin Stable, W.J. Robinson and James Koehler of Ohio own the 3-year-old gelded son of Western Hanover.
Kinetic Yankee held on for second and Artist's View, who made a big three-wide move to move into contention down the backstretch, held on for third.
Won The West, Kinetic Yankee and Artist's View are all eligible to the Little Brown Jug.
