Won The West tops Pocono qualifiers

Won The West, the 2010 Dan Patch winner as older pacing horse, won a qualifier at Mohegan Sun Pocono Downs on Thursday, April 21. Trainer Ron Burke was in the bike as the 7-year-old son of Western Hanover was an easy 5 ½-length winner in 1:54.

Owned by Country Club Acres, Strollin Stable and William Robinson, Won The West has career earnings of $3,487,024 and a mark of 1:47.

Allspeed Hanover, the 2009 Breeders Crown winner, also qualified at Pocono Thursday, winning in 1:53.3 with Michael Vanderkemp in the bike for trainer Noel Daley. Owned by Adam Victor & Son and John Fielding, the 4-year-old son of Cam’s Card Shark won five of seven at two, but did not return to form at age three and won just two of 11 starts. He has career earnings of $658,212 and a mark of 1:49.4.

Blacktuxwhitesocks, the New York Sire Stakes freshman trotting champ of 2010 also won his qualifier at Pocono on Thursday in 1:58.2 with trainer Trond Smedshammer driving. The 3-year-old son of Credit Winner is owned by Wanda Polisseni’s Purple Haze Stable and has career earnings of $307,676 and a mark of 1:55.1.
