The Ontario Racing Commission (ORC) agreed in a hearing Tuesday to allow Woodbine Racetrack to cancel its final two Sunday live racing programs, in exchange for adding races the remaining days of the meet, which is scheduled to conclude May 14.
In approving the application prompted by a horse shortage, the ORC stated "WEG must schedule one extra race on each day of the remainder of the meet, plus two extra races on Saturdays. These extra racing opportunitiees will mitigate to some degree, the loss of racing opportunities for the horse people."
