Woodbine Pick 7 fattens

A lucrative Pick 7 payout is still up for grabs at Woodbine after fans could only nail five of the seven winners in the popular wager at the Toronto oval Saturday evening.

Just two favorites (Muscle Power, $6.50, in the 4th; Whosurboy, $4.40, in the 6th) won races in the Pick 7, which returned $535.25.

The other winners were Urgently N ($14.80) in the 3rd, Most Happy One ($22.50) in the 5th, Lombo Skyrider A ($14.70) in the 7th, Whippet Good ($32.60) in the 8th and Cherry Picker ($12.50) in the 9th.

The guaranteed payout on the Pick 7 for Sunday’s (Feb. 4) program of racing is (C)$80,000, after fans poured (C)$21,812 into the pot on Saturday.

The carryover into Sunday’s pool is (C)$72,723.

In the Pick 7, bettors must correctly select the winners of races three through nine. If there are no winning tickets, 25 percent of the net pool is paid out to the ticket holder(s) with the most correct winners, and the balance is carried over to begin the next day's races.

The all-time highest Pick 7 payout at WEG came at Woodbine on Dec. 10, 2004, when a lucky and sharp handicapper took the entire (C)$1,017,163.50 pool. (Woodbine)
