Yannick Gingras posted his 5,000th career driving victory when he piloted Dry Gulch to the winner's circle in the fourth race on Friday afternoon (May 9) at Harrah's Philadelphia. It was the first of five wins on the matinee card for Gingras. He was congratulated at the Meadowlands later before the beginning of that track's Friday night card.
Gingras is a third-generation horseman who grew up on a farm in Quebec. He left his native Quebec for the U.S. and first enjoyed success at Yonkers Raceway. He was voted the winner of the 2003 Rising Star Award by the U.S. Harness Writers Association.
Gingras has finished among the top 10 money-winning drivers in North America in each of the last eight years, finishing second in both 2012 and 2013. He posted a career high 537 victories last year, which ranked him eighth among the continent's best.
