The 4-year-old gelding Yanzhou won only the second race of his life in an impressive 1:55 at Scioto Downs on Thursday evening. Driver J.D. Wengerd sent him right to the front from post eight and he drew off to win by 5-1/4 lengths over favored Stucker Bunny. Yanzhou is a son of Dragon Again trained by Jim Larrabee for owner Donald Brooks of Bucyrus, Ohio. He had recently been racing at Northfield Park and was 0-for-9 thus far in the 2010 season. Yanzhou paid $9.20 to win after pacing fractions of 28, 56.4, and 1:25.1 en route to victory. Stucker Bunny sat in the two hole most of the mile but was no match for the winner in the stretch. Driver Dan Noble scored four victories Thursday night to solidify his lead in the drivers’ race at the start of the Scioto meet. (Scioto)
