Yearling sale average up

The Standardbred Horse Sales Company's annual yearling auction in Harrisburg, Pa., concluded Wednesday night with a total of 1,006 yearlings selling for an average price of $31,541, up six percent from last year's sale.



The yearling sale generated a gross of $31,730,000, up from last year's gross of $29,881,000. Last year's gross produced an average price of $29,732 for 1,005 horses sold.



Yearlings from the first crop by trotting sire Andover Hall boosted the sale considerably as 10 of the 61 offered at Harrisburg brought prices of $100,000 or more.
