Victor's Vicky beat the boys and made 'em cry for the second time in her last three starts Friday night, winning Yonkers Raceway's co-featured $48,000 Open Handicap Trot. With Jordan Stratton driving for trainer Richard Johnson, Victor's Vicky--starting from post position four--worked out a second-over trip. She then ducked inside when pocket-sitting, 3-2 favorite American Lane (Cat Manzi), backpedaled. After Batalj Launcher (Jason Bartlett) two-moved around American Lane through "good" fractions of :28, :58 and 1:26.1, he dealt with the first-over advances of Beach Nut Brand (Jeff Gregory). Batalj Launcher would eventually get swallowed up from both sides, with Victor's Vicky taking the short way home. She defeated Beach Nut Brand by three-quarters of a length in 1:55.4. Rompaway Alvin (Greg Grismore), Batalj Launcher and Shutter Boy (Billy Dobson) completed the cashers. The winner, a 6-year-old daughter of Valley Victor owned by Fabulous Farms and trained by Richard Johnson, paid $17.80 (fourth choice) for her fifth victory in 14 seasonal starts. Still Electric won the weekly $48,000 distaff derby, this one an open-draw event. Leaving from post three, she sat in the thre hole behind pole-sitting Hannah Isabel (Pat Lachance) and 8-5 choice KG Delight (Bartlett), who was away second after starting right next door. Hannah Isabel led through intervals of :28, :56.4 and 1:25.1, while opposed by the first-up Twin B Tiara (Jim Pantaleano). After that one couldn't sustain her bid, KG Delight edged out, leaving the passing lane for Still Electric. That one took advantage, going past the pacesetter and the pocket-sitter to beat KG Delight by a length in 1:54. Hannah Isabel, Double Dream N and Twin B Tiara earned the remaining pay envelopes. Still Electric, a 5-year-old daughter of Mr. Electric co-owned by Howard Taylor, Jerry Silva and Thomas Lazzaro, returned $12.80 (third choice) for her ninth win in 21 '09 tries. (Yonkers)
