Yonkers looking for a name for talking horse

Have you ever met a talking horse?...He’ll make a New York City public appearance Wednesday, June 30, from 9 am-1 pm.

Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway is looking for a name for the talking horse that is featured in television commercials, and a contest is now underway to name the horse, with a grand prize of $1,500 on the line.

The promotion runs through July 31, and the Grand Prize is $1,500. Log onto www.EmpireCityGaming.com or visit the promotions booth at Empire City Casino to enter. Fans can also view the series of commercials on line to gain inspiration.

The horse with no name will be making his first New York City public appearance to promote the "Who’s that Horse" contest on Wednesday, June 30, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the plaza in front of the News Corp Building at 1211 Avenue of the Americas (West 49th Street at Sixth Avenue). Fans of the popular equine will have the chance to meet the television star and submit their ballots.

The Empire City Casino "Talking Horse" has gathered a large following from his regular commercial appearances on the New York airwaves, as indicated by the thousands who visited him during the recent "Summer Festival" at Yonkers Raceway on June 19. Locally, he has begun to rival such commercial television stars as the gecko in Geico commercials, and Gidget the Chihuahua of Taco Bell fame.

Of course, Empire City’s horse follows in the hoof beats of television’s most famous talking horse, Mister Ed, who appeared in the 1960’s show featuring the horse Bamboo Harvester (voice by Allan Lane) and starred Alan Young, who portrayed the character Wilbur Post. The ad agency DDB created and produced the Empire City "Talking Horse" television commercials, which have been featured in the New York Metropolitan area since 2009.
