Yonkers Raceway returns from its brief hiatus Saturday night...and not a moment too soon. Saturday night's 12-race extravaganza (first post 7:10 PM) launches the Metro 6-Shooter, a unique Pick-6 wager featuring a pair of Yonkers races and four races from the Meadowlands.
The $1 base wager is spiced up with $30,000 added to net pool and one "overflow" race at each track (12-horse Meadowlands field and 10-horse Yonkers field). The Metro 6-Shooter is a cooperative effort between the two tracks and the SOA of New York.
The wager begins with the Meadowlands 4th race (scheduled post 8:04 PM), continuing with Meadowlands 5th (8:25), Yonkers 5th (8:37), Meadowlands 6th (8:49), Meadowlands 7th (9:10) and Yonkers 7th (9:19). As for the small print, the wager is governed by New Jersey Racing Commission and has a 20 percent take-out. The pool is divided with 75 percent going to any ticket(s) with six correct and 25 percent as consolation to next-most correct. If no one selects all six winners, 25 percent paid out as a "next-most" consolation and 75 percent is carried over to next Saturday. We're also making it real simple (and real free) to get the past performances. They're going to be made available on both Yonkers and Meadowlands web sites, and Yonkers is also giving away a free Metro 6-Shooter program every Saturday. New York Sire Stakes action makes its downstate debut Monday night, with $281,844 White Plains Trot for 3-year-old colts and geldings. Six divisions go as races 3,4,5,6,8 & 9 on the dozen-race card. Yonkers returns to its customary five-night-per-week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday) live racing schedule Monday night, with first post each racing night at 7:10 PM. The regular draw schedule/change times also resumes Monday. (Yonkers)
