Young Miller rides to circle

Devan Miller, the 18-year-old daughter of driver David Miller, directed Bring The Pain to a 2:00.3 victory in the Lady Godiva Pace for female drivers at Monticello Raceway Wednesday afternoon. Devan rallied the winning 8-year-old gelded son of Western Hanover to the two-length win over Debs Flying Prints and driver Leah Vandervort, with Wild Willy Magoo and driver Stacy Chodo third.

The win was the second of the year in five starts for Bring The Pain, who returned $4.90 for the victory as the betting favorite in the $3,500 race. Matt Romano trains and owns the winner, who notched his 27th victory in 150 career starts, increasing his earnings to more than $78,000.

As a bonus for winning the race, Devan received a large box of Godiva chocolates. The other participants all received smaller boxes.
