You’re Next moved up in class from the claiming ranks to pull off an upset win in the featured Open Handicap trot on Tuesday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. The race carried the night’s top purse of $24,000. Starting from post position #4 in a field of eight as a 13-1 long shot, You’re Next was sent for the early lead by driver George Napolitano Jr. He then allowed favorite Scorpion Moon to go on by just prior to the quarter pole, content to sit in the pocket behind a solid pace. In the stretch, Napolitano Jr. took the 8-year-old gelding from the barn of trainer Chris Carrubba to the inside passing lane to prevail by a half-length in 1:55:1. Grain Of Truth rallied from the back of the pack for 2nd while Scorpion Moon faded to 3rd. You’re Next, sired by Yankee Paco, won for the 6th time this year, including 5 of 7 at Pocono after starting the meet in a $15,000 claiming class. The win was his 30th in just 57 career starts, and the winner’s share of the purse pushed his career earnings past $207,000. (Pocono)
