Youthful Series Kicks Off

Return Home
March 31, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The Youthful Pacing Series, a sure sign that spring has arrived, kicked off at Woodbine Racetrack on Friday night with a total of 25 sophomores in town slugging it out in a trio of $20,000 divisions.

Tell All turned in a maiden-breaking victory in the opening tilt for trainer Blair Burgess and driver Jody Jamieson, who were O'Brien Award finalists in their respective categories in 2006.

The son of Real Desire – Have No Secrets powered off second-over cover at the head of the lane en route to freezing the teletimer in 1:53.2. Tell All's 28-second final quarter propelled him to the length score over Transcending (Jack Moiseyev). Heaven Touched (Luc Ouellette) rounded out the Triactor ticket.

Sent off as the 3-5 favourite, Tell All delivered on that odds-on promise for members of the My Desire Stable of Versailles, Kentucky.

Trimline demonstrated a lot of grit and determination to win the second division in a career-best clocking of 1:54.1 for the W J J Stable of Windsor, Ontario, who also bred the son of Grinfromeartoear – El Nina.

Phil Hudon was parked every step of the mile with the John Drennan-trainee, who managed to wear down pacesetter Radio City (Rick Zeron) for his second lifetime win. Ill Be Seeing You (Jody Jamieson) rounded out the top three.

The victory improved Trimline's record to 2-1-1 in five starts and it pushed his earnings to $23,900.

Cam Cool quarter pole moved to the lead and fended off the backfield to take the third division in 1:53.4 for driver Randy Waples and trainer Bob McIntosh.

The son of Camluck – Lartesienne kicked out a 27-second final quarter to hold off Crazy Dan (Mario Baillargeon) and Gascon Hanover (Rick Zeron) in the final $20,000 affair.

The homebred has racked up five wins in six starts this season for the Robert McIntosh Stables Inc and Al McIntosh Holdings of Ontario along with C S X Stables of Ohio.

Round two of the Youthful Pacing Series will highlight next Friday's card of racing at Woodbine Racetrack, and the top ten point earners from the preliminary legs will have the chance to return for the $57,000 (est.) final on Friday, April 13. (WEG)
