Zeke Parker wins 6 at Monticello

May 27, 2010 Send To A Friend  | Print View

On May 17   Billy “Zeke”  Parker, Jr. became one of just nine drivers in the history of the sport  who have driven  10,000 or more winners in their careers.

Parker reached that milestone at The Mighty M  in a week when he needed just four more victories. But from the 35, or so, drives he had that week  he only mustered three wins and  he was still one short with just two races to go on May 17.. But in the 10th race he scored  win number 10,000  and then he came right back and reined another winner in the 11th and final race.

Since then, the 56 year old reinsman has been winning races with regularity but not like he did on the   Wednesday, May 26th card at Monticello Raceway when he drove six winners on the Monticello Raceway card.

He began his assault by winning both ends of the early double. He scored with Jamacianme Wild  in 1:58:1 in the first race  and came back to win the second  with  Paper Princess in 2:00:3.

Parker reached the winners circle again in the fourth race when he guided Takemewithyou to a  1:58:2  triumph. Then the bearded one  won the sixth with Norobbinthejet in 2:01 and he copped the seventh race  behind   G E’s Scott in 1:57.

His final triumph yesterday  was a 1:59:2 clocking with Daley Thompson N in the 10th.

After the race program was concluded Parker was asked about his productivity.

“It was a nice warm day and I had a little power,” Parker said when asked about his afternoon performance. “I put them (his mounts) in the right spot and most all of them fired. I just missed winning seven today when Billy (Dobson with The Mad Duke)) nailed me (with Educator) at the wire in the fifth (race). But I certainly have no complaints.” (Monticello)
