Tioga Downs hosted eleven divisions of The New York State Fair Stakes for 2-year-old trotters Thursday night, featuring five divisions for 2-year-old filly trotters and six divisions for 2-year-old colt and gelding trotters. Stephane Bouchard posted a driving triple while Jim Morrill Jr. and Dan Daley each recorded driving doubles on the night’s card.

It was Ray Schnittker and Southwind Breeze however, who posted the fastest mile of the night for the 2-year old-colt and gelding trotters with a mile timed in 1:59. The 2-year-old son of Conway Hall was a $75,000 yearling purchase and made his first lifetime start a winning one after four qualifiers at the Meadowlands.

The filly’s fastest division went to Stephane Bouchard and Sexpot Hall for trainer Fred Grant. The daughter of Conway Hall out of Spitfire Hall is owned by breeder Walnut Hall Ltd. The 2-year-old filly trotter just missed last week in his first lifetime start but broke her maiden with her second start in 2:00.4.

Alpine Intruder stayed a perfect five-for-five in his freshman year with driver Morrill aboard for trainer Brian Horlacher. The 2-year-old son of Lion King posted a new lifetime mark of 2:03.1 for owner Vito D. Cucci of Glen Ridge, N.J. (Tioga Downs)
