Things were going trainer Ron Gurfein’s way at the Meadowlands Wednesday night, just days before his induction in the Harness Racing Hall of Fame. He had winners with Possess The Magic in the Acorn and two other filly trotters in overnight action.

Possess The Magic, a filly by Gurfein’s Hambletonian winner Self Possessed, trotted to a 1:58 score in her $61,250 Acorn division despite starting from post 10. Brittany Farms bred and owns the 2-year-old filly. Mike Lachance handled the driving assignment.

Among the beaten fillies was My Intuition, a daughter of Andover Hall and CR Kay Suzie.

Gurfein also won with another 2-year-old Self Possessed filly, Aurora Hall, who trotted to a 2:00.1 victory, along with the 3-year-old trotting filly Gracious Glide, who scored in 1:59.4.

The second Acorn split went to Maryanne K, who won by three lengths in 1:59.3. John Shultz trains the Yankee Glide filly for owner Ira Kristel.

Boxing great Geoge Foreman had a starter in the race in Stunning Mama. The filly finished seventh and was placed sixth and trotted her own mile in 2:00.3.
