Roll With Joe, the richest harness horse in North America this season. leads six 3-year-olds entered for Yonkers Raceway's Messenger Stakes. The final leg of the pacing Triple Crown is a one-dash-for-the-cash event, worth $401,000. It will be contested Saturday night, Nov. 12.
The remainder of Messenger half-dozen includes Keystone Velocity (Dan Dube), Rollwithitharry (Pierce also listed), Sea Venture (Jason Bartlett) and Sir Ziggy's Z Tam (Pat Lachance).
The companion event to the Messenger, the Lady Maud Pace, closed with four sophomore fillies. Alphabetically, the line-up reads City Delight, Krispy Apple, New Album and Rocklamation. George Brennan has been "early-listed" to drive each lass save for Rocklamation, who is paired with Sears. The purse for the Lady Maud, also set for Nov. 12, is $184,890.
Roll With Joe, a son of Cam's Card Shark, lists the million-dollar Meadowlands Pace on his resume, with a $1.4 million earnings season after his runner-up finish in the Breeders Crown last Saturday. He has five wins, four seconds a pair of thirds in 13 starts this season, with his actual bankroll at $1,449,225. "Joe" is co-owned by (breeder) Winbak Farm, Blue Chip Bloodstock, Stephen Demeter and Not To Worry Stable and trained by Ed Hart. Ron Pierce has the assignment for the colt's second local appearance, the first being a mid-October qualifier.
Also entered was New York Sire Stakes champ Mojo Terror, with a dozen wins this season. The gelded son of Western Terror is trained by Chris Oakes for Bulletproof Enterprises. Brian Sears is the listed driver.
Post positions for both the Messenger and Lady Maud will be drawn next Tuesday as part of the usual Saturday draw. (Yonkers Raceway)
