Driver Dave Palone and trainer Ross Croghan have each won the Delvin Miller Adios Pace once in their careers, and the two horsemen are looking to end their respective 20-plus year droughts with Prince Of Tides in this year’s renewal on Saturday at The Meadows. Read what Palone and Croghan have to say about their chances in the new and free HarnessRacing Weekend Preview.
It’s Hambletonian time and a pair of elims for the Oaks for 3-year-old filly trotters are set for Saturday at the Meadowlands. Trainer Paul Kelley talks about his chances with Seaside Bliss, who comes into her Oaks elim off a career-best victory. Also trainer John Bax discusses his chances with Southwind Casha in her Oaks elim.
Yannick Gingras has won the past five Oaks finals and this year’s his chances ride with Sonnet Grace and The Ice Dutchess. Gingras gives his take on both filly trotters, as well as some thoughts about Hambletonian contender Don’t Let’em, who races in the Reynolds on Saturday at the Big M.
Gingras is glad to be driving this weekend after he and Corey Callahan were involved in a race accident on Wednesday at Harrah’s Philadelphia. Gingras and Callahan—who both were not seriously hurt, as were both horses involved—explain what happened. We also have an update on the health of drivers Mark MacDonald and Duke Sugg, who were hurt in recent separate on-track accidents.
The heat wave enveloping much of the country is a thing of the past, and in a new First Over column, Kathy Parker takes a look on what can be done to benefit the horses when the temperature starts to sizzle.
