A Golden win in OSS Gold final

Golden Seven came up with a much-needed upset victory in Sunday night\'s $130,000(C) Ontario Sire Stakes (OSS) Gold final for 3-year-old colt pacers at Woodbine Racetrack as he stopped the clock for driver Mark MacDonald in 1:51.
The 50 points for the win moved the son of Camluck-Silver Seven into 11th spot in the OSS standings and may very well have landed him a qualifying berth in the Nov. 10 Super Finals at Woodbine, providing any one of the top 10 do not enter the $300,000 event.
In tonight\'s contest, MacDonald took the grey colt off the early pace and watched the battling leaders put up ballistic fractions of :26 and :54.1 for the opening half mile. As the field neared three-quarters, Golden Seven was situated third-over and ready strike off three panels of 1:22.3.
Golden Seven rode the cover of In The Irons all the way into the stretch and was able to easily brush past that rival in the stretch for the lifetime-best win. In The Irons held for second with Along Came Polly finishing third.
\"He just got a real good trip tonight and rewarded us,\" said winning trainer Casie Coleman. \"He\'s had a lot of bad racing luck and road trouble in some of his races. I think he\'s just short of the top 10 now in the standings (OSS), but if we get lucky he might get in. We\'re keeping our fingers crossed.\"
The win improved Golden Seven\'s record to five wins in 12 starts this year and boosted his seasonal bankroll to more than $120,000(C) for owner Niele Jiwan of Burnaby, B.C. (WEG)
