Alvin Jacobson dies

Alvin Jacobson, the owner of such notables as Mystical Sunshine and Peruvian Hanover, died Tuesday, May 8, after a brief illness at the age of 78.
 
Mr. Jacobson owned many great horses, many in partnership with Sid Korn, who will miss him greatly. He won the Breeders Crown with his trotter Mystical Sunshine.
 

Mr. Jacobson was president of the Jay Company, a leading supplier in the garment industry, as well as several real estate companies. He was an active supporter of the Gan Yavne Youth Village in Israel and built a dormitory there in memory of his late daughter, Lois.

 

Mr. Jacobson is survived by his wife of 55 years, Anita Weinrib Jacobson; three daughters, Debbie, Fran and Beth; a son, Seth; 11 grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
 
In addition to owning harness horses for more than 25 years, Mr. Jacobson was an avid gardener, and bird watcher.
