American National stakes action for 2-year-old trotters was held on a miserably rainy Sunday night (Nov. 2) at Balmoral Park. Forever Starlet and Cantab Hall, the favorites, emerged victorious.

Despite starting from post eight over the sloppy track, Forever Starlet won by four lengths in 1:57.3 for driver Paul MacDonell. The filly by Self Possessed had finished second behind Peaceful Way in the Goldsmith Maid final in her previous start. Three Little Words finished second in the Am-Nat.

In the colt division, Cantab Hall, another youngster by Self Possessed, won in 1:58.1, beating Customize by one length. Cantab Hall is undefeated in eight starts for trainer Ron Gurfein. Illinois speedster Kennan's Max finished third in the seven-horse field.
