On the night the 2006 Meadowlands Pace champion is crowned, WCBS-TV will be casting for another amazing race, The Amazing Race, in Paddock Park. WCBS-TV’s popular reality show, The Amazing Race, will stage a casting call at the Meadowlands Racetrack on Saturday, July 15, the night of the $1 million Meadowlands Pace, one of harness racing’s premier events for three-year-old pacers.

The biggest party in harness racing includes a full slate of world-class competition on the track, highlighted by the track’s signature event, an appearance by the Budweiser Clydesdales, a Meadowlands Pace beach towel giveaway [to paid admissions, while supplies last] and performances by two rock bands--The Nerds [6 p.m. to 9 p.m.] and Good Girls Don’t [9 p.m. to midnight]. Rides and carnival games will be available in Paddock Park from 5:30 p.m. to midnight. Post time for the live races is 7:30 p.m.

Applicants for The Amazing Race auditions will have up to three minutes in front of a producer and camera crew, to present their credentials and reason they should be invited to be on one of the teams on the show. Three audition tables will be working simultaneously to give as many people as possible a chance to make their presentations.

To audition for the show, applicants must have proof of U.S. citizenship and a signed release form. To obtain the application, visit http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race_application/.

The auditions are open to the public and both event attendees and reporters will be able to observe them first hand. Since it debuted in 1977, the Meadowlands Pace has become one of North America’s premier events for 3-year-old pacers, introducing a $1 million purse in 1980.
