Anders Bluestone followed the cover of Hava Kadabra and was then able to edge past his rival in the final strides to win Friday night's $30,000 Invitational Trot at the Meadowlands Racetrack. Driven by Ron Pierce, Anders Bluestone crossed the wire in 1:54.4 over a "sloppy" track for his fourth win in a row this year in five starts.
Equity and Aisling traded the lead through opening-half fractions of :28 and :56, with Yannick Gingras moving first-over around the final turn with Hava Kadabra, who has half the Ron Burke-trained wagering entry with the Matt Kakaley-driven Equity. Hava Kadabra was able to take a short lead in the stretch but the Kadabra gelding was overtaken by Anders Bluestone by a neck at the finish line. Equity was a distant five lengths back in third.
Owned by Ken Wood and William Dittmer Jr., Anders Bluestone is trained by Eric Ell. The 6-year-old son of Yankee Glide had won his last three starts at Dover Downs before moving to the one-mile Meadowlands racetrack. The win was his 25th in 61 career starts--just his first in only four appearances at the Meadowlands--bringing his earnings to $668,475.
