Sebastian K, the world’s fastest trotter, added another world record to his impressive resume Saturday at the Meadowlands. The eight year old flexed his muscles in the stretch, kicking clear of the field to win the $300,650 John Cashman Jr. Memorial final in 1:50, which matched Archangel’s mark, set in a Cashman elimination. The trotter distanced Market Share and Archangel.

The Swedish-bred trotter, driven by trainer Ake Svanstedt, sat in the pocket as Archangel set early fractions of :26.2 and :54.4. Racing into the turn, Svanstedt pulled from the pylons to challenge the leader, with the two matching strides through three quarters (1:22.4) and racing out of the final turn. In the lane Sebastian K poured on the power and pulled away from the field to the thrill of the crowd on his way to another dazzling performance.

Bred by Knutsson Trotting AB and owned by Knutsson Trotting Inc., Sebastian K has now won seven of eight seasonal starts. Already a multiple millionaire, the trotter has added $502,603 to his bankroll in 2014 The victory was the third on the card for Svanstedt, who also trained and guided Centurion ATM to a win in the Peter Haughton Memorial and DD's Hitman in a 1:53 triumph in the $50,000 Townsend Ackerman for sophomore trotting colts.
