Although Yarrah Boko won an invitation to the Prix d'Amerique when he captured the Prix de Belgique in Paris on Sunday (Jan. 13), early on Monday it was reported that he had injured a suspensory and thus wouldn't be racing in the big event. By Monday night the news had changed: the horse's regular veterinarian reviewed digital scans of the leg and wasn't so sure a new injury had occurred.
Yarrah Boko's trainer, Trond Anderssen, said early Monday that the son of Coktail Jet-Big Blue Kitten (by Pine Chip) was being shipped home to Norway to recover. He reported that the injury was on the same leg as the suspensory he hurt following last year's Elitlopp. The horse was away from the races five months to recuperate from that injury. However, the horse remained in Paris at the Grobois training center and digital scans were emailed to the horse's regular veterinarian in Norway. The horse is now scheduled to be put through a training trip on Jan. 22 to determine his fitness.
