Post position eight didn't pose any problems for Woodrow Wilson champ Western Ace, who rolled to a 1:52 victory in the first of four divisions of the Bluegrass for 2-year-old pacing colts Saturday at The Red Mile.

Driver Ron Pierce put Western Ace on the front end midway through the mile and the colt was on cruise control through the homestretch. Early pacesetter Sandro Hanover held on for second.

Western Ace is trained by George Teague Jr. of Rainbow Blue fame and also owned by Teague and Jerry Kovach's Kovach Stables. He now has nine wins in 10 starts and is just a few thousand dollars shy of a half million in earnings.
