Apogee Hanover big 1:53.2 winner in qualifer

Apogee Hanover, the 2-year-old Ontario Sire Stakes Super Final champion, made her 2012 debut in qualifying action at The Meadows Friday. With trainer-owner Roger Hammer in the sulky, the filly by Jeremes Jet created a buzz among horsemen when she coasted to a 15 1/2-length win in 1:53.2.
Apogee Hanover cut the pace with fractions of :28.2, :57 and 1:25.1. Last year the filly put together a 12-5-1-1 scorecard with $346,162 in earnings and a speed bade of 1:52.
Destiny's Chance, a 3-year-old Four Starzzz Shark filly trained by Ron Burke, also won a qualifier on Friday monring at The Meadows. With Dave Palone in the sulky, she scored by 3 1/4 lengths in 1:57.2.
