Breaks by favored Pizza Dolce and Filly At Bigs before the start of the second heat of Friday's (Sept. 26) Kentucky Filly Futurity at The Red Mile changed the entire complexion of the race, so it was Armbro Affair who took advantage in leading wire to wire to force a decisive third heat.

Driven by Ron Pierce, Armbro Affair seized control early as Southwind Flanders and John Campbell took a seat in second. With Un Front Kay (Mike Allen) leading an outer flow around the final turn, Campbell found himself locked in. In deep stretch he finally was able to veer Southwind Flanders to the outside to take aim at the leading Armbro Affair, but the charge fell a long nose short in 1:55.3.

Although she made a break and was far out of contention, Pizza Dolce still has a chance to claim Futurity victory as she will take on first elim winner Southwind Flanders and second heat winner Armbro Affair in a three-horse raceoff. That race is slated as the 16th race on the program.
