After passing under the wire to win in 1:52.3 in his $75,000 Jug Preview division, trainer-driver Mark Evers reached up and patted Art's Chip on the rump. The pair will be going to the Little Brown Jug.

Racing over the Scioto five-eighths was a little test for Art's Chip, who has raced exclusively on two-turn ovals. After the mile Evers said he was happy with how the Artsplace colt handled the tighter turns and added, "We'll probably take him to Delaware and train him and see how he does down there."

Art's Chip popped out of the pocket after the second turn to grab the lead and score. Scoobycantoo and Make A Success were second and third, respectively.

Dr. Drew, also eligible for the Jug, went to the top the first time past the grandstand and held on to win in 1:51.3, extending his streak to five.

Whatanartist, also a likely Jug starter, rebounded well from a poor finish in his Cane Pace elim to win by a neck over the hard-charging Allamerican Captor in 1:51.
