August 23, 2018

If you're a fan of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) you are going to have to wait until Dec. 29 to see the just-announced showdown between the UFC's female stars Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes, but if you're a fan of harness racing you only have to wait until this Friday night to see a match-up between two superstar female trotters.

The much-anticipated battle between Atlanta and Manchego will take place in the Casual Breeze at Woodbine Mohawk Park, the first time in memory that the reigning Hambletonian and Hambletonian Oaks winners meet up in that calendar year. And in the new and free HarnessRacing Weekend Preview, Gordon Waterstone caught up with drivers Yannick Gingras and Scott Zeron to ask about their approach to the race with their respective charges Manchego and Atlanta.

Owner Adriano Sorella knows you have to spend money to make money, and he explains his reasons behind supplementing Jimmy Freight to the Messenger at Yonkers, which has elims on Saturday night. There are plenty of 2-year-old pacers in action at Mohawk on Saturday night too, and Tony Alagna gave his take on his Nassagaweya and Eternal Camnation starters to Kathy Parker.
