Winning the feature race at Batavia Downs Gaming Monday night, an optional claiming event with a purse of $5,500, was Truly American in a time of 1:57 with Ken \"Doc\" Holliday in the drivers\' seat for his third win of the night.
YZ Two Fifty was just behind for the place driven by Jerry Nugent Jr., while Armbro Atlas with Michael Baumiester took the show.
Holliday and Truly American had the early lead but lost it only slightly to YZ Two Fifty, gaining it back just after the quarter and kept the lead to the wire.
Truly American is a 10-year-old bay gelding by Keystone Raider. Betty Tauber of East Brunswick, N.J. is the owner, while Sherri Holliday trains him. The winning mutuel price of the feature race was $4.20.

Racing will resume Wednesday night, with an $8,500 open pace for fillies and mares being the feature and the ninth race on the card. The morning line favorite at 5-2 is Gelika Ann with Troy Boring driving. This mare is definitely the one to beat with four wins in her last six starts. Coming in at 3-1 is Ms. Raider and Larry Stalbaum in the driver’s seat; she is looking to do well at her first race in Batavia this year. At 4-1 Jim McNeight and Devil’s Delight look to overtake the two favorites from the seven hole.
