The yearling market was still strong at the third session of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale on Wednesday night when 163 yearlings were sold for an average price of $29,656. Last year's third session, which was held on a Friday night, saw 164 generate an average of $27,860.
The top seller during the third night of the sale was hip 351, a Somebeachsomewhere colt named Eagle Nest, who was purchased by Jeff Gillis for $180,000. Eagle Nest was consigned by breeder Diamond Creek Farm LLC. Eagle Nest is out of the Dragons Lair mare Armbro Nest, making him a half-brother to Lotsa Clout, Harry Hornet and Oliver Jackson.
Two more sessions remain, Thursday and Friday, with each getting underway at 11:30 am.
