Average up slightly at Morrisville Sale

The Fall Yearling Sale at the Morrisville State College Equine Institute was held on Monday, with the average price up slightly over the 2009 number. This year, 186 yearlings went through the sales ring for an average price of $8,563, compared to 2009 when 229 yearlings sold for an average price of $8,477.
The sale topper at this year’s sale was Zellweger Blue Chip, a daughter of American Ideal bred and consigned by Blue Chip Bloodstock Inc. A half sister to 2010 Woodrow Wilson winner Fashion Delight, Zellweger Blue Chip was purchased by trainer Casie Coleman for $42,000.
Blackrock, a daughter of Credit Winner consigned by Blue Chip Farms, agt., sold for $35,000 to trainer John Stark Jr. Blackrock is out of the Valley Victory mare People’s Choice, she a full sister to world champion and two-time New Jersey Sire Stakes champion Lifelong Victory, and Dancer’s Victory, winner of the 1995 Peter Haughton Memoria, and a half sister to New Jersey Sire Stakes champion Triangle Park, also a winner of a heat of the Kentucky Filly Futurity.
Raging With Pace, a son of American Ideal out of the multiple stakes-winning mare Raging Heart, sold for $32,000 to trainer Mark Ford out of the Preferred Equine Marketing consignment. The Morrisvlle Equine College Institute-consigned Sherman Oaks, a daughter of Conway Hall out of a half sister to the $1.1 million-winning Giant Force sold for $30,000 to trainer Gates Brunet.
