Massachusetts State Police revealed Wednesday they seized boxes of banned substances, including bottles of Lidocaine and Carbocaine, empty boxes of baking soda, containers of lactated Ringer’s solution and hoses, in a raid earlier this month that resulted in brothers John and Roland Sears being barred from Plainridge Racecourse.

In a story in Thursday’s Boston Herald, the State Police announced 13 types of banned medications were confiscated from the Sears’ stable. John Sears was barred and fined $5,000, while Roland Sears is appealing the ruling.
