The Ontario Racing Commission has suspended leading Ontario-based owner Bert Smith for 15 days for an altercation with another owner March 27. According to Standarbred Canada, Woodbine Entertainment Group has also given an indefinite "no-trespass" notice to Smith.

Smith, the leading owner at Woodbine/Mohawk, has reportedly admitted he used some profanity but that it was only a minor altercation and that it was not "misconduct injurious to racing," as the Commission ruling states.

Smith's suspension is to run May 5 through May 19. Smith said that although he would not be allowed on the grounds of Woodbine or Mohawk, his horses will still be able to race there.
