Biggest Big Bertha and Todd Ratchford moved up to take on the boys in the $10,000 Winners Over pace at Tioga Downs on Sunday afternoon after dominating against the best girls on the grounds. The outcome proved to be the same as the 7-year old daughter of Little Steven was sent from the gate in an opening quarter of 28. Heavy favorite Frankyluvsmeatbals and Rick Plano tried to move to the front past the three-eighths pole but Ratchford would not relinquish the lead.

The duo raced through fractions of 55.3 and 1:23.4 before Biggest Big Bertha put away Plano, but Real Protection was ready for a stretch duel with the lady after sitting in the garden spot. Sean Mcaleese urged Real Protection down the stretch, but could not get past Biggest Big Bertha on the front in 1:52.3. It was the eleventh win in twenty four seasonal starts for Biggest Big Bertha who is trained by Patty Harris for owner Marilee Keene of Elk Grove, California. Real Protection and Sean Mcaleese finished second, while Presidential Skam and Kyle Di Benedetto got up for third.

Winbak Dimensions and Jimmy Marohn Jr. had their usual Sunday afternoon reservations in the winner’s circle following the $13,000 Open Handicap pace. The duo scored for their third straight victory in Open competition at Tioga Downs with a mile of 1:52.3. It was the seventh win in fifteen starts on the season for Winbak Dimensions who is trained by Jim Perry for owners William Heinz and Jack Heinz of Ohio.

You Bet Your Glass and Chuck Connor Jr. posted the fastest mile of the afternoon in the non-winners of $5,500 last five with a mile of 1:52.1. The 5-year old son of Bettor’s Delight surged by the field past the three quarter pole and opened up to reach his fourth victory of the year. You Bet Your Glass is trained by Arnold Marks who also co-owns with William Williams Jr.

Howard Parker posted a driving double on the afternoon’s eleven race card. (Tioga)
