Artzina and Fox Valley Barzgar paced to 1:51.3 victories in their respective eliminations for the Woodrow Wilson for 2 year olds Friday night at the Meadowlands, the fastest miles posted by freshmen in 2006.

Artzina won the first split after a hard-fought stretch battle with Mr. Apples that resulted in a nose decision. Driver John Campbell sent Artzina to the lead first-over approaching the three-quarters, attacking the leading Mr. Apples who had moved to the lead for driver Ron Pierce at the three-eighths pole. The two raced side by side down the lane with Artzina edging out Mr. Apples to win his third straight.

Pandoras Sox (David Miller) finished third, with Art At Heart and Fingal Hanover fourth and fifth, respectively, to earn a spot in next week\'s $410,000 final.

A son of Artiscape, Artzina is trained by Dylan Davis and owned by Kal Liebowitz and Marc Rubach.

Fox Valley Barzgar was sent to the lead early by driver Tony Morgan and the son of Incredible Finale never looked back en route to his second straight victory. The Double Dion finished second for driver Yannick Gingras with Ruff Me Up third for Miller. Art Crown Merit was fourth with Whats Up Now, who got rough-gaited while first-over around the final turn, settling for fifth.

Tom Harmer trains the winner for owner Michael Polansky.
