Bill to save NYC OTB fails to pass Senate

The Albany (NY) Times-Union has reported that the New York Senate has voted down a bill which would have keep New York City's bankrupt Off Track Betting operations afloat. Now the operations could close as soon as Wednesday.
The vote in the Senate was 29-21 and was mostly on party lines, with Democratic leaders pushing approval of the bill, which was drafted by Gov. David Paterson. The bill needed 32 yes votes to pass.
