With a big purse check in Saturday night's $500,000 Miracle Mile, the legendary Australian pacer Blacks A Fake will pull virtually even with Gallo Blue Chip as the world's richest pacer. The Australian dollar is presently worth almost 99 cents in US currency.
The race will be contested over the American-designed seven-eighths mile Tabcorp Park Menangle track north of Sydney, where a Southern Hemisphere speed record is expected to be set. Last year's race won by Monkey King was clocked in 1:50 8/10ths. Just last week a Miracle Mile prep was won by Washakie in 1:50 5/10ths.
Gallo Blue Chip is the richest pacer with his earnings of $4,260,959. Mister Big also eclipsed the $4 million mark ($4,008,257). Blacks A Fake's earnings were approximately $3,794,774 in March, following his fourth Inter Dominion victory back . He has since pushed his earnings to $4,126,040 (Aus.), or $3,876,040.
